Resident Public Safety

Our Resident Public Safety

Public Safety is a high concern for us as resident leaders in public housing. See how we  have utilized technology in an innovative manner to address this issue.

Virtual Tenant Patrol

John Johnson, past President of the Mott Haven Resident Association and Chair of the Citywide Council of Presidents, believed that as residents we must take control of our own safety and quality-of-life in the places where we live.  As a true pioneer in community-owned and operated technology, John Johnson created the Virtual Tenant Patrol (VTP) service.

The VTP service enables our Resident Association Tenant Patrols, as well as residents themselves, to view their own building lobbies, front doors, playgrounds and other common areas remotely, out of harm's way. As Mr. Johnson would say, "
We Are Watching Us".

The VTP service is completely controlled by us, the residents, and thanks to the vision of John Johnson, has been expanded to many other developments.
